How “Before They Graduate” Started
Funny thing is, Before They Graduate wasn’t even planned.
It all started when Akorede, a 500 level student from my department, saw my YouTube video with my Father❤️.
That day, he just dropped a comment saying I should “Sobur!!🔥💫🤎
Great job my oga… Don’t forget to share with us here what daddy has to say about being strong and eating to site😂😂😂”
Gbam that was it. I replied immediately and told him that when I get back to school, he’s going to share with us the shege FUTA has shown him since 100 level 😂
At that moment, I honestly didn’t mean anything serious. It was just random talk. But during their final year week, I remembered that chat and asked if he’d be available for a proper conversation. He said “no problem.”
That’s how it happened.
No plan, no idea, no setup. I just picked up my mic and camera and started anyhow.
After that first one, I started messaging other final-year students, telling them I was working on a YouTube series and I’d love to have them on board. That’s literally how Before They Graduate began. Unplanned. Unexpected. But it just felt right.
Looking back, I’m grateful Akorede said yes that first day. Because if he had said no, I’m sure there wouldn’t be anything like Before They Graduate.
Then there’s Samson, my guy who designed the graphics for announcing the series for free. (God bless him.)
And Anthony, the man behind the camera. That guy sacrificed so much. If he had said, “Bro, I can’t let you use my phone to shoot,” maybe I would’ve given up….pray for him anytime you see him 🫂🙏
God bless my guys, honestly. Everyone around me who showed up, supported, and believed even when I didn’t have it all figured out.
This whole thing started from a random chat. Now it’s a full story that keeps growing.
And that’s the beauty of it sometimes, you don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a moment, a friend who believes in you, and a little faith to start.
